How to install BIKE T9 in the fork steerer tube

Learn how to install BIKE T9 in the fork steerer tube

Step #1

COMPATIBILITY: BIKE T9 is compatible with 1 – 1/8″ forks whose lower opening is at least 24 mm in diameter. The expander can reach a maximum size of 26 mm in diameter.

Please note: it is NOT compatible with dual-crown forks.

INSTALLATION: Follow these simple steps shown in the photos, or watch the video at the top of the page.

First, make sure that the fork steerer tube is perfectly clean and degreased. If there is no room to maneuver when inserting the device, remove the bike's fender (if any) and wheel.

Loosen the expander by turning the end of the device, making sure that the rubber rings stay aligned in place (in the photo, on the left end). Remove the rubber protective cap from the device.

Step #2

Insert the device into the fork steerer tube, up to the end indicated by the label. If inserted further in, the device's GPS antenna will not work correctly!

Step #3

Apply the fastening tool to the protruding end, keeping the device in position.

Widen the expander by turning the tool and continue until fully tightened, using only the strength of your hands (do not use any other tools).

Step #4

Once installation is complete, remove the fixing tool and check that the device is firmly secured. Fit the rubber cap to protect it from water and dust. Done!

  • FASTENING WITH THREADLOCKER:

For a longer-lasting hold, the BIKE T9 package also includes threadlocker fluid. You can apply a few drops to the device screw while loosening the expander. After that, install it in the fork steerer tube as shown above, and leave the bike stationary for about an hour so the threadlocker can set.

    IMPORTANT:

    1. If you plan to perform tricks or jumps that could bottom out the suspension, you must remove the device beforehand.

    2. The rubber protective cap must always be fitted to the device.

    3. Do not aim direct water jets at the area where the device is installed: you can use a damp cloth.

    4. Every month, make sure the device is perfectly tightened to the fork tube. If not, retighten it just enough using the fastening tool.
